SEEDA-CECNSM 2019 will provide an international technical forum for engineers and academics to exchange ideas, innovations, and results of ongoing research in the most modern fields. This year, particular emphasis will be placed on the demanding issues related to all the possibilities of engineering, networking, and design automation in the era of integrating of the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, and Cyberphysical Systems.

02 July 2019

On July 2, 2019, the Informative Workshop for the sMart fArming program with dRoneS - MARS took place in the framework of the action Research - Creation - Innovation implemented in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of UOWM. In particular, the MARS project refers to smart farming, where unmanned aerial vehicles are needed. The flights collect multispectral photographs and analyze them, and the competent agricultural staff examines the resulting data. Flights include grain, legumes, tobacco, and cherry trees. Analysis of the results extracted a significant degree of geomorphological data, as well as some fungal diseases that were treated. Soil pH meters and weather stations will be installed in the future. There will also be increasingly intensive flights of unmanned aerial vehicles to prevent diseases, and apply plant protection products in specific areas of the field, thereby reducing costs and increasing production. We were honored with their presence and contribution to the event by George Lebanon of the Technical University of Crete, where he contributed to the understanding of terms such as crop visualization & the methods of interconnection and imaging, as well as Vassilis Polychronos of the company GEOSENSE, where he presented the collection of photogrammetric data pix4D and a pilot demonstration in the area of Krokos Kozani.
